Cate & Dick named Baseball Players of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS -- Wright State University junior Quentin Cate and Cleveland State University freshman Nate Dick have been named Horizon League Baseball Players of the Week for the period of May 4-10.

A native of Cambria, Calif., Cate picks up Batter of the Week accolades after going 15-for-21 (.714) with two doubles, four homers, seven runs and 11 RBI in five games last week. He also registered a 1.381 slugging percentage and .750 on-base percentage for the Raiders.

The infielder, who has hit safely in 18 straight contests, recorded at least one base knock and one RBI in all five tilts. He also launched a roundtripper in four consecutive affairs -- two at Youngstown State University on Saturday and two at Cleveland State on Sunday.

Cate ranks among Horizon League leaders in several categories, including home runs (T-1st, 11), total bases (T-1st, 122), hits (2nd, 74), RBI (2nd, 49), runs (3rd, 42), slugging percentage (4th, .601), on-base percentage (5th, .435), batting average (5th, .365) and doubles (T-6th, 13).

A native of Lakewood, Ohio, Dick notches Pitcher of the Week honors after allowing just one run and seven hits over seven innings last week. He issued no walks while striking out two for the Vikings.

The right-hander won his only decision -- an 11-1 victory over the University of Illinois at Chicago on Sunday. He kept the Flames off the scoreboard through six frames as CSU jumped out to a 6-0 lead.

Dick owns a 4-1 record and 2.42 ERA in eight appearances this season.

Wright State improved to 27-25 overall and 13-10 in League play with a 4-1 week. The Raiders knocked off the University of Dayton on Tuesday, took both ends of a doubleheader from Youngstown State on Friday and split a twinbill with Cleveland State on Saturday.

Cleveland State moved to 18-28 overall and 10-12 in League action with a 2-3 week. The Vikings fell to the University of Pittsburgh on Tuesday before splitting doubleheaders with Wright State on Saturday and UIC on Sunday.
