INDIANAPOLIS – Cleveland State senior Jakub Dobies has been named the Horizon League Men’s Swimmer of the Week, while Milwaukee sophomore Jake Koll has claimed Diver of the Week laurels for the period of Jan. 25-Jan. 31.
Dobies tallied two event wins and one runner up honor this past weekend in a road dual meet against Oakland. His winning time of 56.89 in the 100-yard breaststroke was only 1.38 seconds off the NCAA ‘B’ standard of 55.51. The Plock, Poland, native, also touched the wall first in the 100 freestyle in a time of 46.64. Dobies received second-place honors by a mere eight one-hundredths of a second in the 200 freestyle, timing in at 1:42.48. The Viking leader takes home his fourth career Swimmer of the Week award and third of the season.
Koll posted two individual victories this past weekend in a dual meet victory at Western Illinois. The Racine, Wis., native, totaled scores of 248.78 and 262.77 from the one- and three-meter heights, respectively. The sophomore is honored with his third career weekly accolade, all coming in the 2009-10 season.
