INDIANAPOLIS -- Cleveland State rolled to a dominant win over tournament host Michigan, while Milwaukee collected its second straight Panther Invitational title. Both Detroit and Wright State narrowly fell to nationally-ranked opponents on Sunday.

Cleveland State 3, Michigan 0
After a disappointing loss to open the Oakland/Michigan Tournament, Cleveland State dominated Michigan in the tournament finale, 3-0, in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Following a scoreless 45 minutes, Cleveland State (2-1-0) broke the match open with three goals in the second half.

Alfonso Sandoval scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 48th minute, as Zach Ellis-Hayden came away with the ball off a defensive misplay and fed Sandoval, who low cross beat Michigan’s keeper.

With the Vikings nursing a one-goal lead, Aslinn Rodas and Ellis-Hayden would each pot goals within three minutes of each other to seal the result. Cazz Warren found Rodas with a cross to the right side of the 18-yard box, and Rodas went to the low-right corner for the goal at 70:44.

Just 2:16 later, Rodas assisted on Ellis-Hayden’s first goal of the year, as Rodas won a loose ball in the box before sending a pass to Ellis-Hayden for the third goal of the match.

Brad Stuver was called on to make two saves in recording the shutout for CSU.

Milwaukee 2, Eastern Illinois 0
Milwaukee captured the championship of the 38th Panther Invitational, besting Eastern Illinois, 2-0, at Engelmann Stadium.

Goals from Laurie Bell and Jamie Balden carried Milwaukee (3-1-0) to the title; with two goals and an assist in the tournament, Bell was named the MVP.

Bell potted the game-winner just 3:21 into the match, after Zach Stevenson and Richard Johnson slotted the ball 12 yards from the goal, where Bell finished for his third goal of the year.

John Shakon made six saves in goal for Milwaukee, keeping the Panthers one-goal lead intact until Bladen carved a free kick around EIU’s wall in the 79th minute to seal the match.

No. 16 Coastal Carolina 1, Wright State 0 (2OT)
Looking to capture the Wolstein Classic, Wright State hung tough against No. 16 Coastal Carolina, ultimately falling, 1-0, on a golden goal in the second overtime.

Wright State (1-3-0) used 10 saves from Jacob Bye to stay in the match, as Coastal Carolina took 31 shots and 14 corner kicks. It was the final shot that eluded Bye, as Ashton Bennett netted the game-winner 5:54 into the second overtime.

No. 12 UC Irvine 3, Detroit 1
Leading at the half, Detroit surrendered three second-half goals, losing at No. 12 UC Irvine, 3-1, on Sunday night.

Adam Bedell staked Detroit (1-3-0) to the early lead after Mike Pugh sent him a ball from the end line, where Bedell chested it down before netting the goal just 7:31 into the match.

The Titans buckled down defensively, taking the 1-0 lead into the intermission; however, the No. 12-ranked Anteaters tied the match just 1:39 into the second half after Christopher Santana converted a rebound after a save by Nathan Steinwascher.

Lester Hayes III would pot the game-winner in the 65th minute, deflecting a hard cross from Santana. With Detroit pressing up for the equalizer, Enrique Cardenas scored with 15 seconds left in regulation to close the match.

Steinwascher made nine saves for the Titans, who were outshot, 20-6, on the night.

Western Illinois 1, Valparaiso 0
A goal in the seventh minute proved to be the difference Sunday afternoon at Brown Field, as the Valparaiso men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to visiting Western Illinois.

The Leathernecks came up with the game's lone tally early on, starting with possession in their own defensive half as Charlie Bales sent a long ball over the top towards the 18-yard box. Crusader goalkeeper Kyle Zobeck rushed out to the edge of the box to try to play the ball, but the ball never reached the box, and Western Illinois' Mario Alvarez raced on and flicked a header over the charging Zobeck and into the back of the net.

Valparaiso (1-1-0) ontrolled the game for the most part, out-shooting the visitors 14-4 and earning seven corner kicks to WIU's one. But Valpo put just two shots on goal, with Yves Dietrich making saves for the Leathernecks in the 49th and 72nd minutes to preserve the clean sheet. Zobeck also made a pair of saves for the Crusaders in the losing effort.

Niagara 3, Green Bay 1
Green Bay fought back from an early deficit, but two late Niagara goals sent the Phoenix to a 3-1 defeat to the Purple Eagles.

Green Bay (2-2-0) found itself behind, 1-0, just nine minutes into the match after Julian Ekeze beat Max Nimmo. However, the Phoenix worked their way back into the contest, with Kirby Allen netting the equalizer in the 72nd minute.

Ten minutes later, though, Bryan Da Cruz found the back of the net for Niagara; a penalty kick in the 88th minute sealed the result.
