MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Cleveland State University Vikings swept the Youngstown State University Penguins 3-0 (30-17, 33-31, 30-24) in the second quarterfinal match of the 2007 Horizon League Volleyball Championship on Friday at the Klotsche Center. CSU will meet Wright State in the first semifinal match at 1:30 p.m. CT on Saturday.

With the win, the Vikings will advance to the semifinals of the League volleyball championship for the third straight year.

Cleveland State hit .320 as a team and totaled 12 kills with sophomore Beth Greulich leading the way with 12. In total, four CSU players reached double-figures in kills. Defensively for the Vikings, junior Jordan Bateman had 13 digs to lead the way. In addition, freshman Alexis Korovich tallied her team-best 18th double-double of the year as she tallied 11 kills and 12 digs.

Youngstown State senior Jessica Fraley concluded her collegiate career with 16 kills as she was one of two players to finish in double figures in kills.

In game one, Cleveland State got out of the gate in hurry as they took a 15-9 lead. The Vikings then put the game out of reach as they won 10 of the next 12 points to increase their lead to 25-11 and would later close out the first frame by a count of 30-17. CSU hit .613 as a team and junior Jenni Ramminger tallied five kills and hit at a clip of .833 in the opening game.

In the second stanza, Youngstown State jumped out to an early 9-7 advantage, but the Vikings would fight back to tie the game at 10 apiece. Both teams then traded points with neither squad leading by more than three points.

YSU was able to take a 30-29 and had the serve to win the game, but CSU's Greulich evened the count at 30 as she slammed her third kill of the game. The Vikings would not trail for the remainder of the game as CSU claimed a 33-31 victory. Greulich finished the second game with four kills.

Cleveland State closed out the match in the third game. CSU opened the frame with an early 4-1 lead and would not look back as it did not trail for the remainder of the game to defeat Youngstown State 30-24.
