The Cleveland State baseball team will play its annual game at Jacobs Field against Ohio University on May 3 at 6:00 p.m., CSU head baseball coach Jay Murphy and the Cleveland Indians announced. This season will mark the 10th year that the Major League ballpark has played host to the Cleveland State baseball program.

"This is a privilege for our players to have this opportunity to play in such an outstanding facility and on the field of the team that we all root for," Murphy said. "Holding this annual game for the past 10 seasons shows how strong the relationship between the Cleveland Indians organization and Cleveland State University is."

CSU holds a 7-5 mark at the Jake during the 10-year span, winning a 2-1 contest over Kent State last May. Jacobs Field has played host to 12 regular season Cleveland State games since 1995, also serving as the site for the 2002 Horizon League Baseball Championship.

"We are excited to provide this unique opportunity to the Viking baseball team," said Bob DiBiasio, Vice President of Public Relations for the Cleveland Indians. "Our relationship with coach Murphy and the student-athletes at CSU goes well beyond this special event."

The annual game at Jacobs Field is only one example of the partnership between the two organizations. Last year, CSU and the Indians hosted over 100 campers at the second-annual RBI Clinic at Woodling Gymnasium, where members of both teams gave instruction on the fundamentals of the game. Cleveland State has also taken part in an annual baseball clinic for family members of the Wahoo Club, the Cleveland Indians official booster club.

Additionally, members of Viking baseball benefit from annual scholarships provided through the professional club, including the Larry Doby Scholarship and the Luke Easter-Wahoo Club Memorial Scholarship.

Cleveland State opens its season with a weekend series at Cincinnati beginning on March 4 at 4:00 p.m. CSU hosts IPFW on March 25 at 3:00 p.m. in the home opener at Forest Hill Park.
