Lebanon, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's golf team held off a comeback attempt from Detroit to capture 2008 Horizon League Men's Golf Championship at Shaker Run Golf Club in Lebanon, Ohio.

The Vikings went into the final round with a three-stroke advantage on the Titans, but found themselves locked up in a tight race down the stretch. The tournament eventually came down to the final hole when freshman Kent Monas ran in a putt for an even-par four, topping Detroit's David Byrne's bogey five.

CSU finished the three-round championship with a total score of 892, while UDM (893) and Youngstown State (896) rounded out the top three.

Junior Jake Scott from Cleveland State took home medalist honors after carding rounds of 73, 70 and 71 (214) for a two-under par total for the event. Butler's Kyle Thomas was runner-up at 216, and CSU's Monas (217), Green Bay's Adam Austreng (218) and Detroit's Byrne (218) completed the top five.
