INDIANAPOLIS –Cleveland State senior Nena Doran (Ypsilanti, Mich.) is the Horizon League softball Player of the Week, while the Vikings’ senior right-hander Alex Radjen (Broadview Heights, Ohio) is the Horizon League softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of Feb. 9-15.

Cleveland State participated in the Dot Richardson Invitational this past weekend in Clermont, Fla. The team collected two wins in the five game tournament to move to a 5-3 overall record after two weeks of competition. The Vikings notched their first win of the weekend facing Florida A&M on Friday with a 12-2 victory in five innings of work. On Sunday, Cleveland State finished strong with a close 6-5 win against South Dakota State before heading back north to Ohio. The squad fell to Liberty (3-0), UT-Chattanooga (3-0) and Missouri (4-2) in their other three games of the Invitational.

Doran collects her second-straight weekly accolade after another impressive weekend outing for the Vikings. The senior posted a .500 batting average while collecting eight hits in 16 at-bats. Over the five games, Doran hit two doubles, one home run, scored six runs and recorded a RBI. The third baseman also tabbed a slugging percentage of .813, on-base percentage of .579 and added three walks to her plate appearances.

Radjen led Cleveland State in the circle at the Invitational, earning one win and one save. In the win against Florida A&M, she pitched a complete game allowing just five hits and fanned six batters. The senior entered the South Dakota State game to record the final two outs of the contest to notch the save. In Radjen’s 11.2 innings pitched, she collected an earned run average of 1.20, a batting-against average of .143 and tallied 10 strikeouts.

Cleveland State takes a short break from competition and returns Friday, February 27 at the Western Kentucky Invitational. The Invitational consists of five games for the Vikings and as they are set to face Butler, Northern Kentucky, Bowling Green, Western Kentucky and Indiana State.

Top Players of the Week:
Christa McGahuey, Detroit (Jr.): Over five games of action, McGahuey recorded a batting average of .273, scored three runs, hit one double, posted two home runs and three RBI. In addition, hit a slugging percentage of .909.
