INDIANAPOLIS –Cleveland State senior guard Shawnita Garland has been named Horizon League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 14.Garland helped Cleveland State remain fourth in the conference standings with two road wins last week.

CSU is now only one-half game behind third-place Wright State after defeating the Raiders, 74-66, on Thursday.

Garland, a native of Charleston, W. Va., scored 23 points, including 16 in the second half, to help the Vikings rally from a 15-point deficit.  She then scored 32 points, hitting 13-of-21 from the floor and 5-of-8 from three point range helping CSU defeat Detroit, 74-71.

Garland shot over 50 percent from the floor and in threes in both contests last week.

The senior also had six rebounds, five assists and three steals.    

Cleveland State returns home to host its travel partner, Youngstown State, Thursday at 4pm ET in the Vikings only contest next week.
