FEDERAL WAY, WASH. - Cleveland State University sophomore Jakub Dobies competed in his second-consecutive NCAA Championship meet last week, placing 22nd in the 100-yard breaststroke, the highest finish ever by a Viking swimmer, and 35th in the 200-yard breaststroke.

On Friday, Dobies, a Plock, Poland native, swam the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 54.00, after entering the event with a seed-time of 53.64. A year ago, Dobies turned in a 28th-place performance of 53.77.

The following day, Dobies concluded his season with the 200-yard breaststroke, improving upon his 38th seed to finish in 35th-place with a time of 2:07.45. This comes after Dobies was named Co-Athlete of the Year and Co-Swimmer of the Meet at the 2008 Horizon League Swimming and Diving Championships.
