INDIANAPOLIS – Cleveland State freshman Matt Kluelker (St. Louis, Mo.) has earned Horizon League Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week honors, while Detroit sophomore Carolina Salas Espinosa (Monterrey, Mexico) has received Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week accolades.

Playing at No. 3 singles for the Vikings, Kluelker helped Cleveland State win it’s 31st straight match against League opponents last weekend. He won two three-set matches, including the clinching point against Butler. He also won against Wright State, 6-1, 6-7, 6-1 and teamed with Matt Ford at the No. 3 doubles spot, winning 8-6. Kluelker’s win over Butler was his 19th win of the season.

Detroit was led by Espinosa last weekend, when she went 4-0, leading the Titans to two League wins. At the No. 1 spot against Green Bay she won 6-2, 6-2 and played at the No. 2 spot against Milwaukee, winning 6-0, 6-3. She also competed at the No. 1 doubles position with teammate Amanda Cornwell, defeating the Phoenix 8-7(7-2) and Panthers 8-0.

Detroit and Cleveland State are set to compete on April 16, in Cleveland Ohio at 3pm (EST).  The following day will see the Viking men host Northern Illinois in a non-conference match, while the Titans continue on the road to meet the Penguins of Youngstown State.
