INDIANAPOLIS – Cleveland State senior Kent Monas has been named Horizon League Men’s Golfer of the Week, while Butler junior Michele Nash earns Women’s Golfer of the Week accolades for the period of April 6-12.

Monas tied for second place out of 78 individuals at the Adidas Indiana Invitational on IU’s Championship course in Bloomington, Ind.  The Vikings finished runner-up in the two-day event.

Monas, a native of Perry, Ohio, shot a 66 in the opening round and followed with rounds of 71-73 to finish at 210, just one shot behind the medalist.

The second place finish marked Monas’ first top-five finish of the year, and the Vikings second place finish was the team’s best since winning the 2008 Horizon League Championship.

Nash earned her second honor of the season on the women’s side after leading the Bulldogs to the team title at the Big Four Classic played at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind.  The junior also tied for tenth in the final individual standings and helped lead Butler to a sixth place team finish at the Brown Bear Invitational in Barrington, R.I.

Nash, a native of Indianapolis, Ind., shot a team-best 74 in the first round and then closed with a team-best 75 in the final round at Brown, just two strokes shy of a top-five finish.

Monas and Nash will become eligible for next week’s Horizon League Network's "People's Choice" award, which is announced each Thursday afternoon.  Log on to www.HorizonLeague.com to vote.

The Cleveland State men will finish out the regular season at the Earl Yestingmeier Invitational on April 16 at Delaware Country Club in Muncie, Ind., while the Butler women will return to the links at the Horizon League Championship on April 22-24 at Mission Inn Resort in Howie-in-the-Hills, Fla.
