INDIANAPOLIS - Cleveland State University freshman Alice Sommerville has been named the Horizon League Women’s Swimmer of the Week for the period of Oct. 12-18.

Sommerville recorded two first-place finishes and a second place laurel as the Vikings competed against Saint Francis University (Pa.) this past Saturday.  Her blue-ribbon performances in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles set new Saint Francis pool records, touching the wall at 24.54 and 53.21, respectively.  The freshman’s second-place time of 58.80 in the 100 fly places her fifth all-time in CSU history, while her 100 free result ranks eighth.

The Methven, New Zealand, native takes home her first career weekly award and Cleveland State’s first since Oct. 22, 2008 (Cayrs Behn).

Cleveland State returns to action this Saturday as the Vikings host University of Wisconsin-Green Bay University in a dual-meet affair starting at noon ET.
