Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Brad Stuver
Sophomore, Goalkeeper
Twinsburg, Ohio
INDIANAPOLIS – Cleveland State sophomore goalkeeper Brad Stuver (Twinsburg, Ohio) has been named Horizon League Men’s Soccer Player of the Week, for the week beginning Oct. 25.
Before 1,877 fans at Krenzler Field on Saturday, Stuver stood tall in goal for the Vikings, turning aside five shots in Cleveland State’s 2-1 victory over No. 1 Akron.
Akron entered the match as one of three undefeated teams in the country and had scored 42 goals on the year. The Vikings handed the Zips their first regular season defeat since 2008.
The lone goal scored against Stuver came on a penalty kick, which just eluded Stuver, who guessed to the correct side of the net but arrived late.
For the match, Cleveland State was outshot, 12-6, with seven Akron shots finding their way on net.
The award is the second of the year for Stuver, who earned player of the week honors for his work during the week of Oct. 4.
Assured of a Horizon League Tournament bid, the Vikings head to Indianapolis on Friday for an early-morning match against the Butler Bulldogs. Kick-off is slated for 10 a.m. ET, with live coverage available on HorizonLeague.com by clicking here.
