Cleveland State (6-10-0, 2-2-0) men’s soccer team defeated Detroit 5-2 in a midweek conference matchup at Krenzler Field. The Vikings then traveled to Ohio State over the weekend and fell to the Buckeyes 1-0 despite a solid team effort.
Suljevic led the offense for the Vikings as he netted a trio of goals against the Titans, leading the team with five on the season. His first two goals of the match came from placing it past the Detroit keeper from the top of the box then followed in the 37th minute with his second slotting it in from the corner of the net. His third goal was off of a penalty kick in the 49th minute to give the Vikings a 3-0 lead.
Wright State (4-8-1, 2-3-0) lost a midweek nonconference match against Bowling Green 1-0 in double overtime at Alumni Field. The Raiders bounced back over the weekend to defeat Green Bay 2-1 in another double overtime battle to split the week.
Blackmer had a solid defensive performance in both matches as he tallied 12 saves between the two games. His five saves against Bowling Green held the Falcons scoreless until an own goal decided the match in the 103rd minute. On Saturday, Blackmer notched seven saves against conference-foe Green Bay to help secure the 2-1 victory for the Raiders.
Wright State closes out its home schedule on Wednesday, Oct. 30, as the Raiders host Cleveland State at 7:00.
