INDIANAPOLIS – Cleveland State sophomore forward Shalonda Winton has been named Horizon League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, for the week beginning Nov. 15.

Winton received the honor after averaging 17.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game through two contests, leading Cleveland State to its first 3-0 start since 1983.

The Pittsburgh, Pa. native recorded 18 points, six rebounds and three assists in a 78-69 win at Buffalo on Monday, before nearing a triple-double with 17 points, 12 rebounds and a career-high eight assists in 64-50 victory over Niagara on Friday.Winton shot .500 (13-26) from the field in both games, and also registered a total of eleven assists, seven steals and one block on the week.

Cleveland State plays the next two contests at home as it hosts Toledo on Tuesday and Florida A&M on Friday, with both games starting at 7 pm ET.  The Vikings will then travel to Bloomington, Ind. to face the Hoosiers on Saturday at 2pm.
