INDIANAPOLIS -- UIC freshman Billy Clink and Detroit senior Katrina Oberski have been named Horizon League Runners of the Week for the period of Aug. 27-Sept. 2.
Clink, running in his first collegiate race, finished second out of 50 runners in UIC’s home opener run Saturday morning at the Willow Springs trails in Palos Heights, Ill. The freshman runner finished the 4.1 mile course in a time of 21:11.30 to lead UIC to the team title. The Flames had six runners finish in the top-10 as UIC knocked off the other four schools competing.
Detroit’s Oberski was the first Titan to cross the finish line at the Golden Grizzly Open, held on the campus of Oakland University. She completed the 4K course in 15:55 for fourth place overall. Oberski was in the top 10 from the very start, never falling out of contention for the win.
UIC returns to action on Friday at the NIU Invite in DeKalb, Ill., while the Detroit women are back in action next when they host the 26th Annual Running Fit-Detroit Titan Invitational at Cass Benton Park.
