Green Bay women's soccer head coach Trevor Warren takes time with www.horizonleague.org to preview the Phoenix 2008 season. This year Green Bay tied for seventh in the preseason coaches' poll. The Phoenix return eight starters from last year's squad that finished seventh in the 2007 League standings.

Q: With this being your first year at Green Bay what is the stamp you would like to put on this program?

A: "I would like to make our opponents know that we will be very organized defensively and a very difficult team to break down. The plan is to turn our home field into a "fortress" and for our opponents to know that we will not be an easy target."

Q: How has the team adapted to your coaching style thus far?

A: "I think they are enjoying it. My job is to make them completely understand the philosophy behind my methods of coaching and our style of play. I'm a teacher of the game and I understand that they are young players who will make mistakes. They know it is a process and the plan is to get better and better with each practice and each game."

Q: What are your expectations heading into this season?

A: "I'm not going to put too many expectations or pressure on the team. We are a young team and they are going through a transition from one coaching style to another. We have discussed our goals and I think they are realistic and achievable. Our main goal is to have an impact in the conference and to perform well and improve with each game."

Q: What is one thing you have tried to preach to your team in the preseason so far?

A: "Listen, learn and improve in every practice."

Q: Describe the type of feeling you will have when Green Bay faces off against Northern Iowa (your former team) on October 4?

A: "It will be fun say hello and to compete against players I coached last year and several of the players that I recruited. But once that whistle blows it will be business as usual and we will be giving our all for the victory."
