Q: How have your preseason workouts been so far? Which areas have you've been pleased with?
A: The preseason has gone pretty well. The new players have adapted quickly to our system of play.
Q: Your team won six of its final eight matches after losing 10 straight last season. What changed in mid-October?
A: We definitely worked on changing the style that best fit this team, and we have continued that this year.
Q: Your offense was pretty balanced last year. Is that a good feeling going into the 2008 campaign?
A: I think we might be getting some more goals up top this year, but we will take them anywhere and anyway we can.
Q: You have five seniors on the roster. Talk about that group and what they've accomplished during the past three seasons.
A: This is a great group of seniors. They are a not a group that has a lot of accolades, but they come to play every game. They bring a lot of leadership and work ethic.
Q: Discuss your newcomers. Who has stood out to this point?
A: They have all adapted very well. We will have a couple freshman and transfers that will get a lot of time.
Q: What kinds of goals have you set for this year's team (both on and off the field)?
A: Every year, we are trying to get back to the top four of the conference. This is where we were at for the first five seasons of my coaching career. This is the standard that we are always shooting for as a team.
Q: Preview your non-conference schedule. Have you added any new matches or tournaments?
A: We have a couple very big games right off the bat. We kick off with Big Ten opponent Wisconsin and then play crosstown rival Dayton. The second weekend, we play at the Buffalo tournament, with Buffalo and Canisius. We also have Akron in the middle of the season.
Q: You have been at Wright State for 16 years. Talk about some of your greatest memories so far.
A: Wright State has given me a lot of memories. This is where I met my wife and started my family. Wright State gave me the opportunity to do what I love and give back to the game of soccer. There are so many great memories, so it's hard just to give you one.
