Chicago, Ill. - Blake Schilb has been chosen as the most valuable player in the Horizon League according to Collegeinsider.com, it was announced today. The Loyola junior guard enters tomorrow's Horizon League Championship quarterfinal round game versus Detroit as the leading scorer in the conference with 19.3 points per game.

Schilb, who earlier this week earned First Team All-Horizon League honors, has enjoyed a milestone season as he scored his 1,000th career point in early January, and currently ranks 15th on the Loyola all-time list with 1,317 points. In a true sign of his versatility, Schilb has accumulated over 400 points, 100 rebounds and 100 assists for the second consecutive season.

Entering the weekend action, he has scored in double digits in 51 of the last 52 contests and has scored over 20 points in each of his last four appearances. In addition to his scoring average, Schilb also leads the team with 3.9 assists per game and is hauling in 5.1 rebounds per contest.

Collegeinsider.com also tabbed Butler senior forward Brandon Polk as the Horizon League Player of the Year and Bulldogs front man Todd Lickliter as Horizon League Coach of the Year.
