INDIANAPOLIS -- Helping Cleveland State end a brief two-game losing skid was junior forward Aaron Adkins (Bay Village, Ohio) and for his efforts, has been named Horizon League Men’s Soccer Player of the Week, for the week of Oct. 24-30. The accolade is the second of the season for Adkins.  
 
Cleveland State (8-8-1, 4-2-1 Horizon) went 2-0 on the weekend, defeating Horizon League foe Butler, 2-1, on the road and Canisius, 2-1, at home. Adkins scored the game winning shot in both games to help CSU climb back to .500 on the season.
 
Adkins’ scored three of Cleveland States’s four goals on the week, collecting the winner at Butler before potting two versus Canisius. The effort moved him into a tie for the most goals (9) in the Horizon League with UIC’s Ivan Stanisavljevic. He is also tied with UIC’s Eric Frazier for the most game-winning goals (4) in the Horizon League.
 
Cleveland State returns to action on Nov. 4 when it hosts Detroit, live at 7 p.m. ET on the Horizon League Network. Currently tied for second with 13 points, the Vikings will try to clinch a spot in the Horizon League Tournament, which starts Nov. 8. 
 
Top Performers for the Week:
  • Austin Oldham, Butler (So., F) - The sophomore helped Butler to a 3-1 victory over Detroit and scored his seventh goal of the season, which is a team-high. 
  • Sam Krenzien, Green Bay (So., F) - Krenzien had his first multiple scoring game, scoring all three goals in Green Bay’s win over Detroit. His first career hat trick lifted the Phoenix to their fifth straight win.
  • James Howe, Loyola (So., D/MF) - The mid-fielder scored the game-winner against Milwaukee on a loose ball in the 31st minute. He had three total shots in the game with two on goal. 
  • Kyle Zobeck, Valparaiso (Jr., GK) - With four saves on the weekend, Zobeck set the Valpo record with four straight shutouts. One against UIC gave him 17 career shutouts, which tied the Valpo record. The keeper now has 10 shutouts on the year and a 0.67 GAA, both lead the Horizon League.
  • Drake Stewart, Wright State (So., F) - The sophomore scored his first goals of the season in the 2-1 win over Green Bay. He took three shots, two of which were on goal.
