INDIANAPOLIS -- Cleveland State freshman forward Vickie Havas (Stow, Ohio) is the Horizon League Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Loyola sophomore goalkeeper Monica Gonyo (New Berlin, Wis.) has earned Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 10-16. The award is the first of both players’ careers.

Cleveland State (3-5-0) won its lone match of the week, returning to Krenzler Field and knocking off visiting Longwood, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon. Loyola (4-4-1) extended its unbeaten streak to four matches, earning a 1-1 draw with South Dakota before hitting the road and beating Bowling Green, 1-0.

In the victory over Longwood, Havas tallied a goal and an assist, jumping into a tie for the Horizon League lead with 10 points on the season. Havas assisted on the Vikings’ first goal of the match, sending a corner kick into the box, where Erin O’Toole converted just nine minutes into the contest. With Cleveland State holding a 2-1 lead, Havas scored the game-clinching goal in the 81st minute, converting a touch pass.

Gonyo turned in nine saves across the two matches, posting her second shutout of the year. Against South Dakota, Gonyo turned aside three shots, holding the Coyotes without a goal over the last 75:14 of the match. The sophomore extended her scoreless streak by 90 minutes against Bowling Green, making six saves as the Ramblers hung on for the 1-0 road victory. On the year, Gonyo’s 3.58 saves per match rank third in the Horizon League.

Havas and Gonyo will meet this Friday, Sept. 21, when Cleveland State and Loyola open Horizon League play with a match at Loyola Soccer Park. The match will begin at 8 p.m. ET. Both teams will hit the road for Sunday matches, with the Vikings heading to Duquesne for a 1 p.m. ET match and the Ramblers taking on Indiana State at 1 p.m. ET.

Top Offensive Performers for the Week:
Haley Burtraw, Detroit(Jr., M) - Scored the game-winning goal against IUPUI, leading the Titans with four shots in the 2-0 win.
Rita Craven, Valparaiso(Fr., M) - Made her first career goal a golden one, scoring in the second minute of overtime to lead Valparaiso to a 1-0 win at IPFW.
Shay Sade, Youngstown State (Fr., D) - Tallied her first career goal, tying the match in an eventual 2-1 defeat to Northern Kentucky.

Top Defensive Performers for the Week:
Erin O’Toole, Cleveland State (Fr., D) - O’Toole scored her first career goal to open Cleveland State’s 3-1 win over Longwood, converting a corner kick.
Nora Abolins, Detroit (Jr., GK) - Recorded her third shutout of the year, making one save in Detroit’s 2-0 win against IUPUI. In 42 collegiate matches, Abolins has 18 shutouts.
Kristen Manski, Valparaiso (Jr., GK) - Turned in her third consecutive shutout, recording two saves in Valpo’s 1-0 victory at IPFW.
