INDIANAPOLIS - Cleveland State University senior Mitch Boyer has been named Horizon League Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the period of Oct. 26-Nov. 1. Boyer collects his second career weekly award (10/6/08).

The Parma, Ohio, native guided a stingy Vikings defense that held Butler University (No. 13 RPI) scoreless in a 1-0 victory, posting their sixth shutout of the season.  CSU ended the Bulldogs' eight match unbeaten streak and are now undefeated at home for two consecutive seasons (11-0-2).

Boyer earns Cleveland State's second laurel of the season as teammate Justin Mancine claimed the honor on Sept. 28.

Cleveland State, which improves to 7-6-4 overall and 4-1-2 in League play, returns to action on Saturday against Valparaiso University.

Boyer becomes eligible for the Horizon League Network's "People's Choice" award, which is announced each Thursday afternoon.  Log on to www.HorizonLeagueNetwork.tv to vote.
