INDIANAPOLIS -- Cleveland State senior forward Nancy Newcomer (Parma Heights, Ohio) has been named Horizon League Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, for the week beginning Sept. 5.  The honor is the first of Newcomer’s career.

The senior helped the Vikings turn in a 2-0 road trip with wins at Wyoming and Air Force. Newcomer potted goals in both matches to lead the way.

At Wyoming, Newcomer collected her first goal of the year at a key time, sending Cleveland State to a 2-1 win in double overtime with a 103rd minute tally.

The Southern Indiana transfer would net her second goal with the Vikings on Sunday, adding the clincher in the 81st minute in a 2-0 shutout of the host Air Force Academy.

Cleveland State will start Horizon League play this weekend, hosting No. 14 Milwaukee on Friday at Krenzler Field at 7 p.m. Fans can watch the match for free on HorizonLeague.com. The Vikings wrap up the weekend by hosting IUPUI on Sunday at 1 p.m.
