Cleveland State and Northern Kentucky made it a banner day for Scandinavian mascots in the Horizon League, as the Vikings set a new program record with seven goals and the Norse tallied six in a road win at Eastern Illinois. Wright State and Youngstown State each collected victories, with the Penguins matching the best start in program history with two wins to start the year.

Cleveland State 7, Chicago State 0: Seven first-half goals sent Cleveland State to its first win of the season, 7-0, over Chicago State on Sunday afternoon at Krenzler Field. Northern Kentucky 6, Eastern Illinois 0: Northern Kentucky closed its first weekend of the regular season with another dominant victory, cruising to a 6-0 shutout over Eastern Illinois. The Norse posted a trio of goals in the first half and never looked back, out-shooting the Panthers 26-3 and 19-2 on goal. Wright State 3, Morehead State 1: Down an early goal and playing with 10 women, Wright State rallied for a 3-1 win at Morehead State, splitting its weekend of matches in Kentucky. The Raider offense exploded in the second half, with three goals, beginning with Natalie Sedlock's equalizer in the 61st minute. Sedlock's second goal proved to be the game-winner ahead of Ellie Ganz' insurance goal at the 67:18 mark.Read more...(link).

Youngstown State 1, Longwood 0: Samantha Bidinger scored first her first career goal as Youngstown State won at Longwood, 1-0. The undebeaten road trip gave the Penguins a 2-0 start for the first time since 2012 and first consecutive shutouts to start the year in program history. Read more...(link).

Oakland 2, Central Michigan 2: Alice Palmer got Oakland on the board in the 12th minute of play before Brianne Horne's second-half penalty kick proved to be the equalizer as Oakland drew with Central Michigan in the Golden Grizzlies' home opener. Read more...(link).

Northwestern 2, Valparaiso 0: Valparaiso closed out its first weekend of regular season play, dropping a 2-0 decision to Northwestern. Valpo totaled six shot attempts on Sunday, but couldn’t put any past Northwestern goalkeeper Lauren Clem. The Wildcats’ Nandi Mehta scored what proved to be the match-winner unassisted in the 51st minute, while Crusader goalkeeper Drew Moulton made three saves in the losing effort. Read more...(link).

South Dakota State 2, Green Bay 1: Green Bay used a Heidi Hartmann goal in the 28th minute to halve its deficit, but the Phoenix were unable to find an equalizer over the remainder of the match, falling at South Dakota State, 2-1, on Sunday. Read more...(link).
