INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – Loyola senior Mallory Curran has been named Horizon League Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while Milwaukee junior Morgan Potter has earned Defensive Player of the Week honors for the period of Sept. 27- Oct. 3.
Curran, a middle blocker from Waukesha, Wis., registered 36 kills (3.0 kills per set) reaching double figures in three matches for the Ramblers last week. She registered 12 kills, hitting .550 as Loyola swept Bradley on Tuesday. The senior had 13 kills against Green Bay on Friday and added 11 against Milwaukee on Saturday. Curran also collected 11 blocks, 11 digs, three assists and two aces on the week.
Potter, a libero from Stoughton, Wis., recorded 46 digs (5.11 digs per set) helping the Panthers go 2-0 last week. She tallied a collegiate-best 28 digs in a 3-2 win against Valparaiso on Friday, and 18 against Loyola on Saturday, limiting opponents to a .147 hitting percentage. Potter also registered three aces and one assist over the weekend.
Loyola and Milwaukee are on the road on Tuesday when the Crusaders host the Ramblers and the Flames host the Panthers in Horizon League action. Both matches are set to start at 8 pm ET.
