Dayton Flyer Fall Invitational
KETTERING, Ohio -- For the second year in a row, the University of Detroit Mercy women's golf team did not leave Dayton empty handed as the Titans captured the UD Fall Invitational on Tuesday at the Par 70, 5,872-yard NCR Country Club's North Course.

"It was a great team effort and a good way to end the fall," said head coach Terri Anthony-Ryan. "Our goal is to always beat all the Horizon League teams and we did that and extended our lead."

The Titans won the tournament for the second-straight year after carding a 304 on the final 18 for a season-low 610 (306-304) total, nine shots better than Evansville, and 12 ahead of host Dayton.

Senior Lindsey Lammers led three Titans in the top 10, while four were in the top 20. Lammers claimed third with a 149 (75-74), just two strokes off the lead. She led the competition with eight birdies and was also in the top 10 in Par 3 (3.25), Par 4 (4.38) and Par 5 (4.50) scoring average, tying for the best score on the long holes.

Freshman Sarah Thompson was fifth with a season-best 151 (75-76) and made four birdies – the second most on the squad - while junior Olivia Richards tallied a team-high 20 pars en route to sharing eighth with a 154 (74-80). Both were also among the leaders on the course's Par 4's and Par 5's.

The Titans will now prepare for the spring schedule and the Horizon League Championship. The spring slate will be released in the near future.

The Valparaiso women's golf team improved by 14 shots in its second-round performance Tuesday, finishing in eighth place.

Senior Michelle Kleckner led the Crusaders by finishing tied for 15th, shooting a 77 on Tuesday to finish the tournament at 156. Valparaiso closes out its fall season early next week at the Braun Intercollegiate, held Oct. 28-29 at Quail Crossing G.C. in Boonville, Ind.

Youngstown State women's golf team concluded its fall schedule placing 15th. The Penguins carded a 330 on Monday and a 334 on Tuesday.
Leading the way was Allison Mitzel who placed 35th with a 162 (79-83) and Aislynn Merling who was 40th firing 163 (81-82).

The UIC women’s golf team competed in its seventh and final event of the fall season and placed in a tied for 15th. Senior Angela Shin was the Flames’ best finisher as she placed in a tie for 40th with a 36-hole total of 163.

Shin’s Monday score of 77 is the lowest round of her career and second lowest UIC score of the Fall season. The score only trails Caitlan Smollen’s round of 76 at the Green Bay dual match (Sept. 14).
