Detroit 2, Loyola 0

GREEN BAY, Wis.--- University of Detroit Mercy defeated Loyola University, 2-0, in the second semifinal of the Horizon League Women's Soccer Championship Friday night at Aldo Santaga Stadium.

Sophomore Liz Hardy tallied her third goal of the season on a blast from the left side for the Titans only 2:34 into the match. Nicole Gipson and Shelley Marick provided the help on the score. Freshman Lauren Moss added an insurance tally on a free kick with 39:51 remaining in the second period.

Loyola managed 13 shots on the night, including three from Lindsay Faron. Detroit goalkeeper Katie Fortenberry had seven saves for the match.

Detroit will face UW-Milwaukee in the championship match on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 12 p.m. CT. The Titans fell to the Panthers in the only meeting between the two teams this season, a 2-1 defeat on Oct. 16. UW-Milwaukee heads into the title contest on an 11-match unbeaten streak (10-0-1), while Detroit has lost only once in its last 11 (7-1-3).

The 2005 Horizon League Women's Soccer Championship will be held Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 3-6, at Aldo Santaga Stadium on the campus of UW-Green Bay. The winner of Sunday's championship match will earn the League's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship which will begin Nov. 11 at campus sites.
