Oakland Plays to 1-1 Draw with Wright State on Senior Night -- Box Score
ROCHESTER, Mich. - Joey Tinnion scored the lone goal for the Golden Grizzlies as Oakland played to a 1-1 draw against Wright State in men's soccer action Saturday night at the Oakland Soccer Field. With the result, Oakland moves to 5-0-2 in Horizon League play and clinch a first-round bye in the Horizon League Tournament.
"It's unfortunate and we are extremely disappointed to say the least," said coach Eric Pogue. "We did have a lot of shots on goal and I thought we were the better team all night but the score doesn't reflect that. But that's soccer. We made the keeper make some nice saves but we have to make those shots more difficult for the goalkeeper. We walk away with a draw and we walk away disappointed. Now we put our fate in someone else's hands, which is something we did not want to do but this team is no stranger to adversity. We will regroup and refocus on the things we can control which is getting a win against Valpo." Read more
