INDIANAPOLIS -- Detroit seniors Jeff Clarridge and Alainna Stefan have been named Horizon League Golfers of the Week for the period of March 9-15.
Clarridge took second out of 35 individuals at the PGA Villiage Invite in Port St. Lucie, Fla, leading the Titans to a first place finish in the event.
Clarridge, a native of Barrie ON., led the tournament after one round and finished two over par at 146 to take runner-up honors. He finished 11 strokes ahead of the next Titan.
Stefan won the Don Benbow Invite taking first out of 75 individuals as her team took fourth out of 16 teams, finishing ahead of all other Horizon League opponents. She also tied for seventh out of 93 individuals at the Sunshine Spring Classic in which the Titians tied for eighth.
The Dearborn, Mich. native’s win at the Don Benbow was her fourth ever individual win as she shot a career-best even 72 par in the final round and 150 overall score.
Detroit men will return to action on March 28 at the Butler Invitational at Prestwick Golf Club in Avon, Ind. The women are idle until April 3 for the IPFW Spring Classic at Pine Valley Country Club in Fort Wayne, Ind.
