INDIANAPOLIS – Detroit senior Lesley Hanna (Exuma, Bahamas) has been named the Horizon League Men’s Track and Field Runner of the Week, while Milwaukee junior Ben Crogan (Waterford, Wis.) has been tabbed the League’s Field Athlete of the Week, for the week beginning Jan. 24.

Competing at the GaREAT Collegiate Open, on the track where the Horizon League Championships will be contested Feb. 26-27, Hanna posted two of the top times in the League this season, finishing third of 88 competitors in the 200 meters, crossing the line in 21.88.  The mark set a new Detroit indoor record.

Hanna took first place in the 400 meters, breaking the tape in 48.04; the time was the top in the League this season.  The senior helped Detroit earn the top time in the League in the 4x400 relay, as the Titans took first in the meet with a time of 3:18.96.

Crogan tops the League charts in both the pole vault and the heptathlon after the Wisconsin Badger Elite.  Clearing a height of 16’8 3/4”, Crogan broke the Milwaukee school record in the pole vault while competing in the heptathlon.

The junior’s performance in the vault helped him score a school-record 5,246 in the heptathlon, in which he finished third overall.  The total is the best in the League with three weekends left until the League championships.

Detroit heads to the GVSU Big Meet on Friday, Feb. 11 and to the Windsor Team Challenge on Saturday, Feb. 12.  Milwaukee is in action this weekend, heading to South Bend, Ind., for the Meyo Invitational, Feb. 4-5.
