Detroit's Latosinsky, UIC's Hricistova Take Home Horizon League Tennis Athlete of the Week Honors

INDIANAPOLIS – Detroit sophomore Alex Latosinsky (Sarnia, Ontario, Canada) has earned Horizon League Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week honors, while UIC junior Linda Hricistova (Zlin, Czech Republic) has received Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week accolades.

Playing at No. 2 singles, Latosinsky blew through his opponent from Dayton, 6-0, 6-2, helping lead the Titans to a 6-1 victory over the Flyers.  The victory was the 21st singles win for the sophomore in his career.

Latosinsky collected his 22nd career doubles win just before singles play, closing out an 8-6 triumph at No. 2 doubles with an ace on match point.

In a 5-2 win over Toledo, Hricistova swept her singles match at No. 6, recording a 6-2, 6-0 win.  Moving to No. 1 doubles, the junior helped the Flames sweep doubles play with an 8-2 victory.

Detroit is in action twice this week, meeting Wayne State on Thursday, Feb. 3 before heading to Muncie, Ind., for a 2 p.m. ET match at Ball State on Saturday, Feb. 5.  UIC takes on the University of Wisconsin on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET.
