Detroit, Mich. - Detroit sophomore midfielder Mary Parker (Troy, Mich./Athens HS) has added another award to her growing list from the 2004 season as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) in conjunction with adidas named her to the 2004 NSCAA/adidas All-Region Team in a statement released today.
Making her first appearance on the squad, Parker was honored as a member of the Third Team following her outstanding season on the pitch that saw her lead the Horizon League in goals (16), shots (70), points per game (1.61), goals per game (.70) and game winning goals (5). She was also in the top five in the league in assists with five.
Parker single handedly rewrote the Detroit single game record book with her five-goal, two-assist performance against Cleveland State on Oct. 8 in a 13-0 Titan win. In that contest, Parker set new school records for goals and points with five and 12, respectively. The Titans set a school record with 13 total goals as a team.
Parker was selected to both the All-Horizon League First Team and Horizon League All-Tournament Team for the second year in a row and in addition to being named the 2004 Horizon League Women's Soccer Player-of-the-Year.
Detroit finished the season with a 14-8-1 overall record, winning the 2004 Horizon League Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Second Round.
