University of Detroit Mercy junior men's tennis player Pjotrs Necajevs (Riga, Latvia/Herdera Vidusskola) was among six athletes featured in this week's issue of Sports Illustrated's "Faces in the Crowd" section.
Necajevs won his first 13 singles matches for the UDM men's tennis squad, all by way of a two-set sweep, and was twice named the Horizon League Player of the Week. He ended the fall season with three individual flight titles for the Titans, who are in their first year as a varsity sport since being discontinued in 1995.
The Faces In The Crowd section highlights six amateur athletes every week who have a great athletic achievement to share. The people featured range from kids to college athletes to senior citizens who have all accomplished a remarkable athletic feat.
