INDIANAPOLIS -- Detroit junior Rosanna Reynolds (Canton, Mich.) is the Horizon League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week while Oakland’s Taylor Jones (Detroit, Mich.) is the Freshman of the Week for the week of Jan. 4-10.

Detroit defeated three conference opponents last week with wins over Cleveland State, Valparaiso and UIC. Facing the Vikings, the Titans hit a season-high 13 triples as four players scored in double figures in the 82-68 victory at Calihan Hall for the team’s first conference victory of the year and head coach Bernard Scott’s first of his career. Detroit then improved to 2-1 in the League on the road at Valparaiso where the squad rallied from a nine-point second-half deficit to capture a 72-66 win. To close out the week, the Titans took on UIC at the UIC Pavilion and were able to clinch a 89-80 victory as the team shot a season-high 50.9 percent (28-of-55) for the contest. This is the first time since the 2011-12 season that Detroit has posted a 3-1 League record.

Reynolds was a consistent presence Detroit over the course of the team’s three victories as the junior posted a season-best eight assists at Valparaiso and a season-high 26 points at UIC. Reynolds averaged 19.5 ppg for the week as well as 5.8 rebounds and 5.6 assists to help lead Detroit to its stellar League start. The junior captain also hit 50 percent (19-for-38) of her shots from the floor in addition to sinking four triples and going 17-for-20 (.850) from the charity stripe.

Oakland split the week as the team won at UIC and lost to Valparaiso at the ARC to snap the team’s five-game win streak. At the UIC Pavilion, the Golden Grizzlies captured the 78-76 win after 14 lead changes in the contest. In the loss at Valparaiso, Oakland could not overcome a slow first quarter and fell to the Crusaders 81-66.

Jones led Oakland for the week with a team-high 21 points at UIC and 15 points at Valparaiso to average 18.0 ppg for the week. The freshman made a career-high 11-of-12 free throws at the ARC while going 20-for-22 (.909) over the two contests. In addition, Jones also averaged 4.0 rpg, 2.5 apg and 2.5 apg for the Golden Grizzlies.

Detroit and Oakland both take on Wright State and Northern Kentucky this week at home. On Thursday, January 14 the Titans square-off with the Raiders while the Golden Grizzlies host the Norse with both matches beginning at 7:00 p.m. ET.
