INDIANAPOLIS – Detroit freshmanShareta Brown is the Horizon League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, for the period from Feb. 27-March 4.

Brown averaged 18.0 points and 12.0 rebounds in Detroit’s two wins last week as the Titans clinched the No. 2 seed in the Horizon League Tournament.

In Thursday’s 57-52 win over Butler, Brown had 16 points and nine rebounds. On Saturday, against the conference’s second-ranked scoring defense, the Titans offense was held to 48 points, their lowest scoring output this season in conference games, but Brown as unstoppable in the pivot, scoring 20 points and grabbing 15 rebounds, including seven on the offensive end. She also had a career-high three blocks on defense.

Brown, an All-League First Team member and Co-Newcomer of the Year, has led the Titans to a 14-4 mark, their best regular season conference mark since the 1996-97 season.

Detroit received a first round bye and will play the winner of the first round game between seventh-seed Cleveland State and 10th-seed Youngstown State Wednesday night at 7 p.m. ET.

Other Top Performers for the Week:

Julie Wojta, Green Bay (Sr., G/F) – Wojta had her 32nd double-double of her career Saturday in GB’s defeat of UIC, finishing with 27 points and 10 rebounds. She scored 17 points of the second-half as the Phoenix pulled away from UIC.

Hannah Douglas, Butler (Fr., G) – Douglas scored a career-high 31 points in Butler’s win over Wright State Saturday. She was 15-of-32 from the field, including knocking down four three-pointers, and making 6-of-7 free throws.

Shalonda Winton, Cleveland State (Jr., F) - Winton had 25 points, her 10th 20+-point performance of the season as the Vikings clinched a first round home game with a win over Youngstown State.

Ashley Green, Milwaukee (Fr., G/F) -Green averaged 16.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game for the week, shooting 57.7 percent from the floor. She recorded her first collegiate double-double at Loyola Saturday.

Heidi Schlegel, Youngstown State (Fr., F) - Schlegel had 16 points and 12 rebounds, her second double-double of the season in YSU’s game at Cleveland State.

Kim Demmings, Wright State (Fr., G) – Demmings had 24 points, four rebounds and three assists at Valparaiso and 22 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals at Butler last week.
