INDIANAPOLIS -- Detroit freshman Shareta Brown is the Horizon League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, for the period from Nov. 28-Dec. 4, after leading the Titans to their first victory of the season.

Brown scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds as Detroit went on the road and defeated Ball State, 87-68, last Thursday.

The Titan freshman finished with 21 points by shooting 7-of-7 from the field and 7-of-8 from the foul line. She also set a career-high with five assists and tied her career-high with three steals in the game.

Brown ranks in the top-five amongst conference players in scoring (17.7, 4th), rebounding (9.9, 3rd) and field goal percentage (.563, 2nd). She is the highest ranked freshman in the conference in all of those categories.

Detroit battles two Big 10 teams this week as they travel to East Lansing, Mich., to face Michigan State on Tuesday and host Michigan on Thursday.

Other Top Performers for the Week:
Julie Wojta, Green Bay (Sr., F) - Wojta had double-doubles in both games last week. She scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as GB defeated Marquette, 66-50. She scored a career-high 26 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in the Phoenix’s 75-67 win over Northern Iowa.

Brandi Brown, Youngstown State (Jr., F) - Brown scored 12 points and had 14 rebounds in YSU’s 80-55 win over Western Michigan.

Patrice King, Loyola (Jr., G) - King scored a career-high 26 points as Loyola fell to 21st-ranked DePaul, 70-65.

Sami Tucker, Milwaukee (Jr., F) - Tucker had double-doubles in both games last week, scoring 17 points and grabbing a career-high 12 rebounds at Bradley, and putting up 21 points and 11 rebounds against Western Michigan.

Takima Keane, Cleveland State (Sr., F) -Keane tied her career-high with 20 points against Akron.

Tabitha Gerardot, Valparaiso (So., F) - Gerardot averaged 15.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in Valpo’s two games last week.

Kim Demmings, Wright State (Fr., G) - Demmings averaged 12.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 6.0 assists in WSU’s two games last week. She had eight points, nine rebounds and eight assists in the Raiders’ win over Buffalo
