Indianapolis—Detroit sophomore Wil Wittmann (Combined Locks, Wis.) has been named the Horizon League Men’s Golfer of the Week, while Youngstown State junior Allison Mitzel (Poland, Ohio) has been named the Horizon League Women’s Golfer of the Week for the period of Apr. 2-8.

Wittmann earned his second career weekly honor after a strong showing at the Bradley Invitational in Perkin, Ill. The Combined Locks, Wis. native shot a steady 142 (71-71) to place third, three shots off of first-place. The 36-hole total marks a career-low and the third-place finish is a season best. For his career, Wittmann has three career top-five efforts.

Wittmann’s scoring average of 73.55 places him third in the League, behind Andrew Bailey (71.59) and teammate Brendan Leonard (73.55).

Detroit finished the event in a tie for third, seven shots off the pace set by Evansville (579).

For the first time in her career, Mitzel has earned golfer of the week honors after taking medalist honors at the IPFW Spring Classic in Fort Wayne, Ind. After opening the tournament with a 74, Mitzel charged home with a final-round 73 to take first-place by two shots over teammate Aislynn Merling. Mitzel led the field in par-4 scoring (4.05), par-5 scoring (4.62) and birdies (5).

Youngstown State finished in second-place, a mere two shots behind Indianapolis who won the event with a 36-hole total of 612.

Detroit and Youngstown State return to action April 14-15 when they compete at the Red Flash Invitational hosted by St. Francis (Pa.) at the Sunnehanna Country Club in Johnsontown, Pa.

Joe Collard, Green Bay (Jr., Marinette, Wis.)
- After shooting a 78 in the opening round at the Bradley Invitational, Collard bounced back with a 1-under par 71. His 36-hole total of 149 placed him in a tie for 19th.
Elizabeth Curtiss, UIC (Jr., Byron, Ill.) - Posted rounds of 79-84 (163) at the Bradley Invitational to place 34th. Curtiss collected a team-high three birdies and 16 pars.
Allyson Hackman, Cleveland State (So., Brownstown, Ind.) - Was Cleveland State’s top finisher at the Colonel Classic, tying for 25th place with rounds of 81-79 (160).
Kassandra Komma, Oakland (Sr., Niddatal Hessen, Germany) - Finished in a tie for third at the IPFW Spring Invitational with a 36-hole total of 150 (74-76).
Lindsey Lammers, Detroit (Sr., Milan, Mich.) - Led Detroit at the IPFW Spring Classic, tying for third-place (76-74). The right-handed golfer led the field with 23 pars. The finish marks her 23rd career top-five mark.
Kelly Voigt, Valparaiso (Sr., Palatine, Ill.) - Via her sixth-place finish, registered her first top-ten finish of the season at the IPFW Spring Classic. Voigt turned in rounds of 76-76 (152).
