Former Green Legendary Green Bay men’s basketball coach Dick Bennett was back on campus recently, and the Phoenix Hall of Famer took the time to sit down for an interview with current head coach Brian Wardle in the old Phoenix Sports Center.
Matt Menzl hosted the interview, and the two coaches discussed a variety of topics, including Bennett’s recent visit with the men’s and women’s basketball staffs, history of the program, the task of building a program and creating an identity as well as the three-game series with Virginia beginning in 2011-12.
Virginia is coached by Dick Bennett’s son, Tony, who is the all-time leading scorer for the Phoenix. The series begins with Green Bay’s trip to Charlottesville on Nov. 25. Green Bay will play at Virginia again in 2012-13 before Tony and his Virginia team visits the Resch Center in 2013-14.
