INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – UIC sophomore Janise Dismuke has been named Horizon League Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while Loyola junior Cat Languido has earned Defensive Player of the Week honors for the period of Sept. 6-12.
Dismuke, an outside hitter from Peoria, Ill., collected 52 kills (3.47 kills per set) and 17 blocks (1 BS; 16 BA) last week leading the Flames to their first tournament title in over 15 years. The Best Western Invitational MVP also registered two assists, two digs, and hit .484 on the weekend.
Languido, a libero from Lemont, Ill., recorded 71 digs (6.45 dps) in 11 sets for the Ramblers last week. She successfully passed 79 of 80 serves (98.8%) and dug 29 balls in just three sets against Evansville. She also recorded 8 assists and three aces over the weekend helping Loyola beat Murray State and Western Carolina.
Loyola returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Indiana State for an 8 p.m. ET match. UIC kicks off conference play when it hosts Youngstown State on Friday in an 8 p.m. ET tilt.
