Wright State Deputy Director of Athletics Dr. Roderick Perry was named the Director of Athletics at IUPUI on Tuesday.

During his tenure at WSU, Dr. Perry played a key role in athletic department strategic and financial planning and oversaw numerous areas, including academic advising, media relations, compliance, strength and conditioning and athletic training, as well as several sports and the general administration for the day-to-day activities of the department. His sport responsibilities included women's basketball, baseball, men's soccer, swimming and diving and tennis.

"Rod has done a terrific job here at Wright State; he is tremendously prepared to be a director of athletics," WSU Director of the Athletics Bob Grant said.  "I'm very proud of him, proud of his accomplishments here, and I know he will do great things at IUPUI."

Currently in his 14th overall year with Wright State athletics, Dr. Perry returned to WSU as Senior Associate Athletic Director/Director of Administration in 2008 after serving as Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Student Services at Ohio University since early 2007.

Before serving as Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Academic Services from 2001-07, Perry was Wright State's Academic Advisor for Athletics for one year and was Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Services for one year. Before coming to WSU, he worked at the University of Florida as well as Auburn University.

Dr. Perry's growth was shown in December of 2013 as he received his Ph. D. in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Higher Education Administration from the University of Dayton.  A native of Auburn, Alabama, Dr. Perry graduated from Auburn University in 1995 with a degree in Sports Administration. He also earned a master's degree in Higher Education Administration from Auburn in 1998.
