Dutch Duo Sweeps Weekly Tennis Honors

INDIANAPOLIS -- Cleveland State sophomore Jorg van der Vloet (Waalre, Netherlands) and Youngstown State sophomore Paula de Man (Eemens, Netherlands) have been named the Horizon League tennis Players of the Week.

It is the second award of the season for van der Vloet and the second in a row, and third overall, for de Man.

van der Vloet went 2-0 at No. 1 singles on the week, first winning 6-2, 6-4 at Butler. Returning to conference play, van der Vloet won 6-2, 6-4 against Wright State to led the Vikings to the No. 2 seed in this weekend's Horizon League tournament.

de Man won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles against Wright State in Youngstown State's only match this week. She also teamed with Lauren Hankle for an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles.

The sophomore improved to 7-0 in Horizon League singles play, winning her 14th consecutive match. As a team, 14 wins on the season is the most for the Penguins since 2004-05.

van der Vloet and de Man will be travel to Indianapolis this weekend as Cleveland State and Youngstown State compete in the conference championships at North Central High School.
