The 2014 regular season concluded on Saturday as the final seeds were determined for next week’s Horizon League tournament at Kapco Park in Mequon, Wis.
The Wright State Raiders captured the regular season crown with a 25-4 League mark and will be the No. 1 seed in the tournament. The 25 wins in the Horizon League season are the most since Notre Dame had 27 (27-5) in the 1990 season, and the Raiders conference winning percentage of .862 is the best in the League since Notre Dame won 90 percent of its games (18-2) in the 1992 season.
UIC is the No. 2 seed in the tournament and like top-seed Wright State will receive a bye to Thursday’s action.
The tournament begins on Wednesday, May 21 when No. 4 seed Milwaukee and No. 5 seed Oakland play at 11 a.m. No. 3 seed Valparaiso and No. 6 seed Youngstown State begin championship action at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
It is a double-elimination tournament with the championship game scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday. If the team that advanced to the championship game from the losing bracket wins that game, the two teams will play again at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
The winner of the Horizon League tournament receives the conference’s bid into the NCAA Tournament.
All tournament games will be shown on the Horizon League Network.
