The 2013 regular season concluded on Saturday as the final seeds were determined for next week’s Horizon League tournament in Niles, Ohio.
The tournament will be hosted by Youngstown State and held at Eastwood Field.
The Milwaukee Panthers captured the regular season crown with a 14-7 League mark and will be the No. 1 seed in the tournament. UIC and Valparaiso finished in a tie for second in the regular season with identical 13-11 records in conference play. The Flames win the tiebreaker between the two teams and will be the No. 2 seed in the tournament as UIC won five of the six meetings between the two teams in the regular season.
The tournament begins on Wednesday, May 22 when No. 4 seed Wright State and No. 5 seed Youngstown State play at 3 p.m.
UIC and Valparaiso are the first of three games on Thursday, with first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m. Top-seed Milwaukee will begin its tournament at 3 p.m. on Thursday when it plays the winner of the Wright State-Youngstown State game from Wednesday.
It is a double-elimination tournament with the championship game scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday. If the team that advanced to the championship game from the losing bracket wins the game at 11 a.m., the two teams will play again at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
The winner of the Horizon League tournament receives the conference’s bid into the NCAA Tournament.
All tournament games will be shown on the Horizon League Network.
