Fifty-Eight Horizon League Teams Post Perfect APR Scores

INDIANAPOLIS—Fifty-eight Horizon League teams posted perfect 1000 Academic Progress Rates (APR) in the 2012-13 academic year.

The APR is a real-time measure of eligibility and retention of student-athletes competing on every Division I sports team.

Valparaiso led all Horizon League schools with 11 squads posting perfect APR scores while former conference member Loyola, which departed after the 2012-13 academic year, had 11 perfect APR scores as well.

Of the 19 Championship Sports sponsored by the Horizon League, 17 had at least one team with a perfect 1000 score. Among the sports respectively, men’s golf led the field with seven teams followed by men’s and women’s cross country with six squads each.

Ten of the fifty-eight conference teams that tallied perfect APR scores won their particular Horizon League Championship throughout 2012-13 and advanced to the NCAA tournament.

Newcomer Oakland, which joined the conference in the 2013-14 academic year, recorded ten perfect APR scores including men’s and women’s basketball.
