Tenia Fisher of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has been named the 2006 Horizon League Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year, while Butler's Scott Overall claims the honor for the second consecutive season on the men's side.

Fisher set a meet-record with a time of 55.35 on her way to winning the 400m dash at the 2006 Horizon League Championships.  During the course of the season, she set school records in both the 400 and 800m.  She set the 400m mark with a time of 54.80 at the Wisconsin Twilight, while her time of 2:08.97 in the 800m at the Stanford Cardinal Invite earned her seventh-place and a spot at the NCAA Mideast Regional in the event.

Fisher had won three consecutive Horizon League Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year awards prior to earning her first outdoor honor.  She was also named Horizon League Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week for April 3.

Overall was the lone Horizon League representative at the 2006 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships, finishing 11th in the finals of the 5,000m run.  He set a Butler record with a time of 13:38.19 at the Stanford Cardinal Invite to qualify for the Mideast Regional, and also won the Horizon League title in the event.

Last year, Overall earned Athlete of the Year honors after posting a 13th-place finish in the 1500-meter run at the 2005 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships.  Overall was also named the 2006 Horizon League Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year after setting a meet record in the 1000-meter run at Horizon League Championships and finishing 12th in the men's 3000m at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Butler has now claimed the last six Athlete of the Year awards combined for cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field. In addition to Overall's three awards, teammates Andy Rayner (2005 Cross Country) and Andrew Sherman (2005 Indoor) and former Bulldog Oly Laws (2004 Cross Country) were also named Athletes of the Year.

The Horizon League Athlete of the Year award is voted on by coaches from the seven participating institutions. Other women's nominees included UIC's Idara Essien, Detroit's Andrea Karl, Loyola's Marcia Faustin and Youngstown State's Danielle Bolt.

The men's nominees included: Nick Gazis of UIC, Sean Conroy of Loyola, Jeremy Majors of UW-Milwaukee and Jarrod Davis of Youngstown State.
