Detroit, Mich. - The Detroit Tigers named former University of Illinois at Chicago outfielder Curtis Granderson the organization's minor league player of the month for July on Tuesday afternoon.

Granderson, who is currently playing for the Class AA Erie Seawolves, hit .344 (33-for-96) with 26 runs, two doubles, two triples, four home runs and 24 RBI in 24 games during July. He finished with nine multi-hit games during the month, hitting safely in 19 of 24 games and driving in at least one run in 14 games.

The Lynwood, Ill., native set many single-season records at UIC during his junior campaign in batting average (.483), hits (100) and runs scored (76). He also broke the career record for runs scored with 178.
