Cleveland State 2, Bowling Green 1
The Cleveland State women's soccer team extended its win streak to three straight with a 2-1 victory at Bowling Green on Friday night.

The game was called with 58 seconds to play after a 30 minute delay for inclement weather and lightning.

CSU improved to 3-3 this season, while BG fell to 0-4.

The Vikings fell behind 1-0 in the 29th minute of the match when Skylar Fleak scored her first goal of the season from 23 yards out at the top of the box.

However, CSU wasted little time in tying the contest at 1-1 as Sarah Kaiser netted her first goal of the season just three minutes later with a goal from the left side of the box. Elise Sailors tallied the assist.

The game-winner came at the 65:33 mark when Chloe Fadenholz scored her third goal of the season. Fadenholz cut to the inside and hit a shot from 30 yards out with her left foot that found the far upper-90.

It was the third straight match that Fadenholz scored a goal.

BG held a slight 19-16 advantage in shots as Sarah Wood made six saves for CSU to earn the win in goal.

Green Bay 3, Chicago State 0
Thanks to three goals in the first half, the Green Bay women’s soccer team is off to its best start since 1996 following a 3-0 victory on Friday night at Chicago State. The game was called in the 71st minute due to inclement weather in the area.

The Phoenix, now 4-1-0, is off to its best start in 19 years when the team began 4-1-0 in 1996 as well. Should the team earn a win or tie at Loyola on Sunday, it will give the program its best start to a season in the Division I era which began in 1989 (the team began the season 5-0-0 in 1988 as the best start all-time).

Already a familiar sight this season, Heidi Hartmann (Plymouth, Minn.) scored her team and league-leading fifth and sixth goals of the season. Hartmann scored right away in the 5th minute, when she banged one in from the top of the 18-yard box to give the Phoenix the only goal it would need on the day.

Hartmann struck again in the 35th minute, when freshman Alex Zeller (Dundee, Ill.) gave a beautiful set up pass to Hartmann to give Green Bay a 2-0 lead. Elise Olson (Madison, Wis) sparked the goal with the pass to Zeller, giving the defense yet another assist on the year.

The six goals scored by Hartmann are the most in a season since 2006, when Stephanie Gross scored 13, as this year’s team continues to rewrite history.

Zeller would give the Phoenix its third goal of the game, the fourth time this year the team has scored three goals or more, when a free kick pass from Sydney Born (Edina, Minn.) found the freshman’s head and into the back of the net.

The defense gave goalkeeper Nastacia Behle (St. Paul, Mo.) her second-consecutive clean sheet of the year, as the backline of Olson, Born, Justy Linton (Winnipeg, Manitoba), Katie Schulz (Plymouth, Minn.) and the midfield help from Abby Juzwik (Madison, Wis.) kept the Lady Cougars off the board.

The game was originally delayed in the 57th minute, then later called in the 71st. After 70 minutes of action, the game becomes an official contest.

Wright State 2, St. Francis (Pa.) 1
The Wright State women's soccer team scored twice in the first half and held off Saint Francis (PA) the rest of the way for a 2-1 win Friday night at Alumni Field.

It didn't take look for the Raiders to open the scoring as freshman defender Addie Englehart tallied her first collegiate goal at the 8:01 mark of the first half as she drove down the pitch and connected on a shot.

Senior forward Ashley Miltko then made it 2-0 at the 38:51 mark as she converted a rebound into a goal from the right side.  A long shot from senior defender Allie Metzler hit off the crossbar to Miltko who knocked it in for her first goal of the year.  Metzler was credited with the assist, her first of the season.

Saint Francis cut the deficit in half in the early minutes of the second half and threatened to tie the score late, but the WSU defense held on for the victory as junior goalkeeper Halle Pyle recorded three saves.

Youngstown State 5, Malone 0
The Youngstown State women's soccer team won its third straight match and improved to 3-2 with a 5-0 win over Malone on Friday evening at Farmers National Bank Field.

The Penguins controlled the game from the outset and took 38 shots, which are the second-most in a single-match in school history. The school record of 53 was set against Delaware State in 2003.

With the loss, Malone falls to 1-1 on the year.

The five goals are the most scored in a single match during the Will Lemke era and the most since 2003 when the Penguins defeated Delaware State, 17-0.

Five different players scored goals for the Penguins while freshman Kyler Lum collected two of the squad's four assists.

Senior Chelsey Haney scored her first goal of the season at the 19:24 mark to give the Penguins a 1-0 lead. Senior Brittany Tenis threaded a long pass through the Pioneers' defense and led Haney to a one-on-one with the Malone goalkeeper. Haney found the bottom-left corner of the goal for the score.

Just before halftime, Macey Riese's header from a corner kick from Lum pushed the Penguins' lead to 2-0 with 1:09 left before the intermission.

Freshman Sydney Riddle lifted a cross into the box and sophomore Kathy Baquero's header extended the Penguins advantage to 3-0 in the 49th minute.

Ten minutes later, Abby Kenski scored her first career goal from Lum's second assist and gave YSU a 4-0 lead.

Sophomore Samantha Vaughan posted her first career goal in the 81st minute to end the scoring.

The Penguins defense allowed just two shots and one shot on goal, while the offense took 12 corner kicks to Malone's zero.

Boston College 2, Milwaukee 0
Lauren Bernard and Hayley Dowd each scored second-half goals as Boston College took down the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's soccer team Friday night at Engelmann Stadium 2-0.

The Panthers now fall to 1-4-0 on the year, while Boston College - an Elite Eight team last year - improves to 5-1-0 on the season.

UWM keeper Paige Lincicum tallied an impressive eight saves on the night.

"It's a bit of a disappointing first half," Milwaukee head coach Greg Henschel said. "I'm proud of the group for stepping forward in the second half. Right now, we're searching to put 90 minutes together this year, but it will come. It will come."

Milwaukee looked to get on the board early, after an Eagle defender was called for a handball in the box. For the second-straight game though, the Panthers had a penalty kick saved against them as BC keeper Alex Johnson lunged to her right to keep the game scoreless.

Boston College got on the board early in the second half when Bernard had a short corner played to her feet and launched a perfect ball from the right corner of the box into the back far netting to make in 1-0 just two minutes into the second frame.

UWM nearly answered right back. Krissy Dorre made a couple moves and sprung forward on the attack. Her shot from just inside the 18 appeared headed for the back post but again Johnson made an incredible save to deny the goal.

With already numerous saves under her belt in the game, Lincicum again came up big for the Panthers in the 63rd minute. Eagle defender Allyson Swaby came barreling down the field and was one-on-one with Lincicum, but Milwaukee's sophomore keeper came out and made an incredible save on a point-blank shot.

BC made it 2-0 on a nice finish by Dowd near post for her fourth of the season in the 79th minute.

Again, Milwaukee nearly answered the bell right after.

Maria Stephans sent a cross in from the left win and Vienna Behnke found the ball in the box and blasted on a shot on frame that Johnson was able to get a piece of and send it trickling just past the far post.

"I think the group is digging deep right now, and that's pretty evident," Henschel said. "Everyone was left wanting in the first half and we dug deep and, that's not and easy thing to do - turning up your volume in the second half. We did that. We continue to try to make appropriate responses and I think we're doing that. We just need to work harder on being consistent and proactive so that we can get the other team to respond to us."

The Eagles claimed a 15-6 edge in shots on the game and claimed a 4-2 advantage in corners. BC was whistled for 11 fouls to Milwaukee's six.

Central Michigan 2, Oakland 1
Kyla Kellermann scored her second goal of the season off a feed from Alice Palmer to lead Oakland (1-5) in a 2-1 setback to Central Michigan (1-2-1) on Friday afternoon at the CMU Soccer Complex. In addition to her first assist of the season, Palmer added four shots as the Golden Grizzles outshot the Chippewas 13-9 for the game. However, they could not get the equalizer after Kellermann's tally cut the lead in half during the 69th minute. Alison Holland recorded two saves defensively.

"I am disappointed with the loss. We had a slow start but still created chances in the first half," said head coach Margaret Saurin. "In the second half, we came out and dominated possession and created more chances but could only put one away. It was a great shot by Kellermann that got us right back in the game but we could not convert the other chances we created. I am happy we created chances and moved the ball well, but we need to be more clinical in front of the net."

Laura Goose put Central up 1-0 with an unassisted tally from 12 yards out off a deflection during the 31st minute of the first half. She added another goal in the second half off a breakaway feed up the middle putting CMU up 2-0 in the 66 minute.

Three minutes later, Kellermann fired a shot from the ride side 20 yards out hitting the far post into the net past CMU goalkeeper Maddy Bunnell.

Denver 1, Detroit 0
The University of Detroit Mercy women's soccer team allowed just one goal Friday in the first of two games in Colorado this weekend, but unfortunately that goal proved to be the difference in a 1-0 loss at Denver University.

The Titans (1-2-1) held Denver, which was playing in its home opener, scoreless for nearly the entire 90 minutes of regulation. Denver's Jocelyn Loomis scored from roughly 18 yards out with just 54 seconds remaining on the clock in regulation to give the Pioneers (2-2-1) the victory.

Denver got off to a good start, getting off seven shots in the first half compared to two by Detroit. The Titans had a couple of headers in the final minutes of the first half by senior midfielder Alyssa Riley (Whitby, Ont. / Father Leo J. Austin), but both chances were thwarted. UDM finished the match with one shot on goal.

Detroit also had all three of its corner kicks in the first half. Denver had just one corner kick chance for the entire match. The Pioneers held the edge in total shots for the contest, 10-4.

Freshman goalkeeper Marina Manzo (Washington Township, Mich. / Romeo) made two saves in net for the Titans. Detroit has allowed just one goal total in the past three games overall.
