STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Youngstown State, Detroit, Valparaiso and Butler were all recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches Assocation (NFCA) on the organization's All-Academic Team ledger. All four programs turned in a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher.

Youngstown State ranked sixth nationally, compiling a 3.523 GPA; Detroit ranked in the top 25 (24th) at 3.350, while Valparaiso (3.320) and Butler (3.306) were both in the top 50 softball programs in the nation.

The NFCA Academic Awards program honors both collegiate and high school teams for their submitted GPAs for the 2010-2011 academic year. As a second component of the program, all submitted student-athletes who achieved a 3.50 GPA during last academic year are named as a NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete. The individual honorees will be announced on Wednesday, October 5 on NFCA.org.
