Four Panthers Honored By NSCAA: Three seniors, junior earned Academic All-Region nod

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's soccer team has placed four players on National Soccer Coaches Association of America's Academic All-Region team, the organization announced recently. Heading the list of North/Central Region honorees was senior Kerri St. Aubin, who was named to the second of three teams and a list of honorable mentions.
Senior Brenda Andrews and junior Janice McGann were elected to the third team, while senior Melissa Ricter joined the trio, garnering honorable mention honors. The teams include players from each Division of NCAA women's soccer.
Statistically one of the top keepers in team history, St. Aubin capped her career with All-Horizon League First Team honors and Academic All-Region Second Team honors from CoSIDA. On the field, she led the league with a 0.88 GAA and seven shutouts, while leaving with a perfect 18-0 career mark and 0.37 GAA in league games. Off the field, she is double-majoring in criminal justice and political science and boasts a 3.70 GPA.
Both Andrews and McGann were staples of the UWM backline, contributing to league-best figures of 0.99 GAA and eight shutouts. A four-year starter, Andrews played in all 22 games this season, starting 20 times. She finished her career with three goals in 63 starts and 78 games played. The Minnesota product has also garnered a pair of second-team all-league awards. Andrews is a journalism major and has maintained a 3.64 GPA.
Milwaukee's most honored player this season, McGann is taking home her third regional honor of the season. The only Panther to start all 22 games this season, the Ontario native has already been honored with All-Region Second Team accolades from Soccer Buzz and Third-Team honors from the NSCAA. She also chipped in an assist in her first season as team captain. McGann boasts a 3.64 GPA while working towards a degree in advertising.
A midfielder with a tremendous workrate, Ricter broke through in 2004 with career-high in goals (2), assists (3) and points (7). She played in 21 games as a senior, starting 14 times, providing a strong presence for the Panther midfield. Ricter sports a 3.72 GPA in the classroom and is majoring in marketing.
The Panthers finished their season in the championship game of the Horizon League Tournament, falling 1-0 to Detroit, to end the season at 11-8-3. Milwaukee was the top seed in the tourney after winning its fifth-straight regular season league crown with its fourth unbeaten league mark in that time.
