INDIANAPOLIS -- Cleveland State senior Marie Frease has been named Horizon League Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while fellow Viking senior Amanda Medvetz has earned Defensive Player of the Week honors for the period of Sept. 3-9.

Frease, a middle hitter from Massillon, Ohio, collected 51 kills on an impressive .480 hitting percentage (51-3-100) last week to help Cleveland State win two matches.  Frease started the week with eight kills and a .500 hitting percentage in the Vikings loss to Pittsburgh. Over the weekend, in the CSU Invitational, Frease had a .476 hitting percentage as she recorded double-digit kills in all three matches. In CSU’s three-set win over Eastern Kentucky, Frease had 14 kills and a .565 hitting percentage. In the tournament finale against Oakland, Frease set a career-high with 19 kills. She also had 16 blocks last week, including a career-high tying eight against Oakland. Frease was named to the All-Tournament team at the CSU Invitational.

Medvetz, a libero from Elyria, Ohio, recorded 81 digs in 15 sets last week for Cleveland State. She posted a career-high 33 digs, the first-30 dig match of her career, in CSU’s five-set loss to Oakland on Saturday. The senior led CSU in digs in all four matches last week and capped her week by being named to the CSU Invitational All-Tournament team.

Other Top Performers for the Week:

Julie Kolinske, Milwaukee  (So., OH) - Kolinske was a member of the All-Tournament team at the InnTowner Invitational after averaging 4.45 kills and 3.27 digs per set. She had 22 kills and 15 digs vs. North Dakota State as she recorded a double-double in all three matches at the tournament.

Morgan Beil, Valparaiso (So., MH/RS) - Beil led the Crusaders in hitting percentage and ranked second on the team in kills per set last week. The sophomore also contributed 14 blocks. She was named to the All-Tournament team at the MSU Eagle Challenge.

Missy Hundelt, Youngstown State(Jr., RS) - Hundelt had 51 kills and 46 digs last weekend in being named to the Zips Invitational All-Tournament team. She hit .302 for the week and recorded 17 kills on a .400 hitting percentage against Binghamton and had 19 kills and a .340 hitting percent against Akron.

Monica Anderson, Green Bay (Jr., OH) - Anderson had a career-high 20 kills in Green Bay’s five-set come-from-behind win over Bradley on Saturday at the Jackrabbit Invitational. She was named to the All-Tournament team after finishing the weekend with 36 kills.

Aubrey Sniegowski, UIC (Sr., OH) - Sniegowski had 43 kills and a hitting percentage of .375 last weekend in helping the Flames go 2-2. She also finished the week with eight digs and seven blocks.

Stephanie Kinane, Loyola (Fr., L) - Kinane averaged 6.3 digs per set last weekend at the Stanford Invitational. She had 21 digs at #8 Stanford, 20 versus Pacific and 22 against Santa Clara. She has now posted 20+-digs in five consecutive matches.

Kelsey Victor, Valparaiso (So., OH/MH) - Victor posted four blocks, along with 11 kills in Valpo’s four-set win over Illinois State. She had set her career-high with nine blocks against Morehead State and also had a career-high 14 kills against Savannah State.

Jenna Cavanaugh, Youngstown State(Jr., MB) - Cavanaugh had at least two blocks in every match last week as the Penguins went 3-1. She matched her career-high with 10 blocks in YSU’s four-set win over SIUE.

Brittany Groth, Green Bay(Sr., L) - Groth had 47 digs (4.7 digs per set) last week for the Phoenix as they went 1-1 at the Jackrabbit Invitational in Brookings, S.D.
